OHTANAJÄRVI

OHTANAJÄRVI

This sculpture draws inspiration from the landscape of Ohtanajärvi, the small village where my grandmother grew up. Near her childhood home ran a stream where she and her sisters used to wash their hair, set against a backdrop of green-covered mountains. The place carried a strong sense of serene presence and continuity.

This sculpture is envisioned as a living, evolving work that remains unfinished in its current state. The intention is to incorporate permanent plant life into the sculpture — resilient species that nevertheless require ongoing care and attention. In this way, the work reflects a relationship of care, respect, and coexistence with nature, inspired by the way of life in the Torne Valley.
